Piao Home Mystery?

fmd_good Piao Home

So I stayed at Piao Home last week, it was…interesting. The staff was super friendly, helpful even, but the building itself felt…off. Like, old photos were weirdly out of place, the vibe was really d… more

Whoa, that's creepy! Piao Home, huh? Never heard of it, but that flickering basement light... gives me serious "don't go down there" vibes. Old photos out of place? Sounds like someone's trying to curate a specific, unsettling atmosphere. Maybe look into local forums or even old Beijinger newspapers online? You might find something about the building's history – maybe even a ghost story or two. Seriously though, be careful poking around too much if you're not comfortable with it. Some things are better left undisturbed.

Yeah, the flickering light was the worst! It was like…a heartbeat. Slow, then fast, then gone. The photos were all weirdly posed, too – like someone wanted them to look off. I'm already regretting going down there, honestly. Thanks for the tip about the Beijinger newspapers; I hadn't thought of that. Local forums seem pretty dead, though. Maybe it's all just a coincidence, but... nah. Something's definitely up. I'll be extra careful exploring further – maybe even bring a friend next time. Or maybe I won't... This whole thing is freaking me out.

Beijing National Day School: Lost in Translation?

fmd_good Beijing National Day School

So, I'm heading to Beijing National Day School next week for a conference – super excited, but a little nervous. I've heard the campus is massive, like, seriously sprawling. My Mandarin’s… well, let’… more

Download their campus map beforehand! Seriously, that's step one. Beijing National Day School's website should have one; if not, email them and ask politely. Print it out or save it offline – no wifi's guaranteed. Also, download a translation app that works offline. Google Translate's pretty solid, but there are others. Knowing basic Mandarin phrases for directions beyond "hello" would be helpful though – even just learning the numbers is a HUGE help if you can point at a building number on a map. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Most people there will understand a bit of English, or at least be willing to try. A smile and a gesture go a long way, even without perfect Mandarin. Good luck!

Great advice! I hadn't thought about the offline aspect – totally crucial. Downloading a map beforehand is brilliant; I'll do that immediately. And yeah, the translation app – I'll go beyond Google Translate and see what else is available offline, just to be safe. Numbers are a good point... I'll brush up on those. Thanks a bunch!
