Beijing Greens: A Slice of Heaven?

fmd_good Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course

So, I'm heading to Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course next month. Heard it's ridiculously expensive, but the reviews rave about the greens. My question is: is the outrageous price tag ACTUALLY worth i… more

Yeah, Tianzhu Country Club is pricey. No doubt about it. Think of it like this: are you paying for slightly better greens, or the entire experience? The views alone might justify the cost for some, but if your budget's tight, it's probably not worth it. You'll find perfectly decent, less expensive courses in Beijing that offer a great game. Unless you're a serious golf aficionado with money to burn, I'd probably look elsewhere. Honestly, the hype is real for the greens, but maybe not worth the extra cash for the average player.

Totally get what you're saying. The pictures online are gorgeous, making it look like a ridiculously luxurious escape. But yeah, that price tag is a serious deterrent. I've played a few other courses around Beijing – nothing quite like the photos of Tianzhu, but still pretty good and significantly cheaper. Maybe I'll just stick to those for now and save the splurge for a proper golfing holiday somewhere else... like @Scottsdale or something. Thanks for the honest opinion!

Qianmen's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Qianmen

I spent a week wandering around Qianmen, soaking up the atmosphere. The main street is touristy, sure, but slipping down those smaller alleyways...man, that's where the real magic happens. Found tin… more

Get lost. Seriously. Just pick a side street and wander. Don't look at a map, don't plan a route. Let yourself get turned around. That's how you find the really good stuff in Beijing. Those alleyways are a labyrinth, the best discoveries are accidental. You'll stumble on things you'd never find otherwise. Embrace the disorientation; it's part of the charm. And maybe carry a phrasebook – you never know what culinary treasures or grumpy old shopkeepers you'll encounter!
