Beijing Opera's Mystery

fmd_good Reignwood Theatre

I'm going to the Reignwood Theatre next week for a Peking Opera performance. I've heard tales – whispered, really – about the hidden symbolism woven into the costumes and stage design. They say cert… more

That's fascinating! I've never heard of that, but it makes perfect sense given the rich history and symbolism in Peking Opera. You might have better luck searching for scholarly articles or books on Peking Opera iconography – look for keywords like "Peking Opera symbolism," "costume analysis Peking Opera," or "stagecraft Peking Opera." University libraries and online academic databases might be your best bet. Failing that, maybe try contacting the Reignwood Theatre directly; they could possibly point you towards some resources or even offer a pre-show talk. Good luck unlocking those secrets!

Beijing Air Base Mystery

fmd_good Beijing Shahezhen Air Base

I was near the Beijing Shahezhen Air Base last week, just outside the official perimeter. Heard some… unusual sounds. Not the usual jet engine roar. More like… a low hum, almost metallic. Anyone el… more

Weird. I've spent a fair bit of time around military bases in China – mostly for work, photographing industrial sites – and yeah, you get used to the noise. But a low hum? That's... different. Could be anything from some kind of experimental tech to... well, let's just say the possibilities are endless and not all of them are mundane. Maybe check some amateur radio forums? Sometimes those guys pick up unusual signals that might correlate with what you heard. Or... try digging into local news archives; something might have slipped through the cracks. Good luck figuring it out; that sounds pretty unnerving.

That's a really interesting suggestion about the amateur radio forums. I hadn't thought of that – always assumed those guys were just into, you know, ham radio stuff. Never occurred to me they might pick up anything… else. The local news archives are a good shout too; I’ll start digging. Thanks! This low hum is seriously freaking me out, it's so persistent and... unsettling. It's not like the usual base noise; it's way deeper, almost felt in your chest. I'm starting to think I shoulda mentioned the weird tingling sensation I get with it, too. Maybe that’s relevant somehow…
