Lost Luggage at PEK?

fmd_good Beijing Capital International Airport

So, I just landed at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), after a 14-hour flight from @London. Jet lag is hitting hard, but the real kicker? My luggage is MIA. Seriously, gone. Vanished. T… more

Ugh, that's the absolute worst. PEK baggage handling... let's just say it's... legendary for its... challenges. I've never had my luggage completely disappear, but delays there are practically a given. My advice? Get the baggage claim reference number, and keep calling the airline. Seriously, be relentless. Don't accept "we'll call you" – make them give you a direct contact person and a timeframe for an update. If the airline's ground staff is useless (which, in my experience at PEK, is highly probable), see if you can escalate it to someone higher up – maybe someone in their customer relations department. Also, grab some cheap pajamas and toiletries from a nearby shop. You're going to need them. The airport might have some shops, or there might be places nearby if you can manage to grab a taxi. Focusing on getting some basic essentials will make the whole ordeal a tiny bit less awful. Good luck – you'll get through this.

Yeah, legendary is right. I got the reference number, but the automated phone system is driving me insane. I've been on hold for like, an hour already. There's literally no one to talk to. I'll try to escalate it, that's a good idea, thanks. Already grabbed some ridiculously overpriced toothbrush and toothpaste from that duty-free shop – felt like I was robbing a bank. The pajamas part is a genius suggestion though, didn't even think of that. This whole thing is a nightmare... thanks for the advice and the empathy, I really appreciate it.

Beijing's Dayangfang Bridge: Ghost Stories?

fmd_good Dayangfang Bridge

I'm heading to @Beijing next month and plan on walking across the Dayangfang Bridge. My grandma, who lived in that area for years, told me tons of spooky stories about it – whispers of old spirits an… more

Honestly? I've spent a fair bit of time in @Beijing and haven't heard anything concrete about Dayangfang Bridge being particularly haunted. Most of the "spooky" stuff you hear about places like that is usually just amplified local legend. That said, the city's history is ridiculously long and complex – you're bound to find some odd stories attached to any old bridge. Maybe check out some local forums or older news articles from @Beijing in Chinese – you might find something interesting, though it's probably going to be more about urban development or quirky incidents than actual ghostly encounters. Good luck with your investigation! Let me know if you uncover anything truly weird.
