NCPA Acoustics?

fmd_good National Centre for the Performing Arts

I'm heading to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in a few weeks, super excited! Always loved opera and this place looks incredible. My question is: how’s the acoustics actually like? I’ve… more

It's a gorgeous building, that's for sure! Acoustics are… tricky. I've been to a couple of shows there, and it really depends on where you sit. The best sound, hands down, is in the main hall, but even then, some seats are better than others. The balconies can be a bit echoey, I'd try for orchestra seating if your budget allows. Avoid the very back rows anywhere. Honestly, though, even the less-than-perfect seats are still better than many other venues I've been to. You'll likely have a fantastic experience either way. Enjoy the opera!

That's really helpful, thanks! Orchestra seating it is then, if I can snag tickets. Echoey balconies are a definite no-go for me. I appreciate the heads-up on the back rows too; I've had that experience before and it's a real bummer. Looking forward to it now, even more so!

Tianzhu's Greens

fmd_good Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course

So, I'm heading to the Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course next month – heard it's stunning, but insanely pricey. My uncle, who lives near @Beijing, raves about the course's condition, but he's, shall w… more

Played Tianzhu a few years back. Uncle's right about the condition, it's immaculate. Insanely pricey is also accurate. Caddy service was... adequate. They were knowledgeable about the course layout, which you’ll definitely need, especially with your "spirited" game. Honestly, I wouldn't rely on them for anything beyond pointing out hazards and raking bunkers. They weren't bad, just don't expect miracle shots or putting advice. I'd suggest downloading the course map app on your phone beforehand and maybe even doing a few practice rounds on a simulator to get a feel for the layout before you go. That'll save you a lot of lost balls and frustration. And maybe pack some extra golf balls... you'll probably need them.
