Beijing Air Base Mystery

fmd_good Beijing Shahezhen Air Base

I was near the Beijing Shahezhen Air Base last week, doing some birdwatching – surprisingly good spot, tons of raptors. Anyway, I saw something strange...a huge, almost invisible plane, way higher th… more

Yeah, that's weird. Shahezhen isn't exactly known for its... ahem... unconventional air traffic. Could have been a test flight of some new experimental tech? Or maybe even something... else entirely. There are a lot of restricted airspace areas around Beijing, so maybe you just glimpsed something they don't want you seeing. No guarantees, of course. I've heard whispers about unusual aerial activity around military bases in @China before, but never anything concrete. Next time, maybe a blurry pic is better than nothing...even if it's just a smudge on your phone screen.

Right, that's what I figured. Shahezhen, of all places! Experimental tech sounds plausible, but… "something else entirely"? You're making me paranoid now. A blurry pic would've been ideal, I know, but it all happened so fast. My phone's camera is also, let's just say, less than optimal. The whispers you mentioned… are they mostly online forums or something? I've done a few searches, but haven't really found anything beyond vague military exercises announcements. It's frustrating not knowing for sure, you know?

Qianmen's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Qianmen

I spent a week wandering around Qianmen, soaking up the atmosphere. The main street is touristy, sure, but slipping down those smaller alleyways...man, that's where the real magic happens. Found tin… more

Get lost. Seriously. Just pick a side street and wander. Don't look at a map, don't plan a route. Let yourself get turned around. That's how you find the really good stuff in Beijing. Those alleyways are a labyrinth, the best discoveries are accidental. You'll stumble on things you'd never find otherwise. Embrace the disorientation; it's part of the charm. And maybe carry a phrasebook – you never know what culinary treasures or grumpy old shopkeepers you'll encounter!
