Beijing Tech's Secret Society?

fmd_good Beijing University Of Chemical Technology

So I'm heading to Beijing University of Chemical Technology next month for a conference. Heard whispers about a secret society of students who supposedly hold underground coding competitions with cra… more

Doubtful. Beijing University of Chemical Technology is pretty big, and while there's definitely a vibrant coding scene in Beijing, a secret society with high-stakes underground competitions sounds… embellished. Maybe some intense student coding clubs exist? Probably some pretty serious hackathons. But a secret society? That's more of a Hollywood movie plot. You'll probably find plenty of talented coders though, so attending the conference itself could be fruitful. Good luck with your networking!

Yeah, you're probably right. A secret society felt a bit… much, even for me. I got carried away with the whole "mystery" angle, haha. Intense coding clubs and hackathons make way more sense. Thanks for the realistic perspective! I'll focus on networking then. Appreciate the advice!

Qianmen's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Qianmen

I spent a week wandering around Qianmen, soaking up the atmosphere. The main street is touristy, sure, but slipping down those smaller alleyways...man, that's where the real magic happens. Found tin… more

Get lost. Seriously. Just pick a side street and wander. Don't look at a map, don't plan a route. Let yourself get turned around. That's how you find the really good stuff in Beijing. Those alleyways are a labyrinth, the best discoveries are accidental. You'll stumble on things you'd never find otherwise. Embrace the disorientation; it's part of the charm. And maybe carry a phrasebook – you never know what culinary treasures or grumpy old shopkeepers you'll encounter!
