Beijing Today Art Museum: Weirdest Exhibit?

fmd_good Today Art Museum

So I finally made it to the Today Art Museum in Beijing, right? I'd heard so much about its…eccentricity. Spent hours wandering through some seriously mind-bending installations – one was literally… more

Dude, that's the Today Art Museum for ya. It's less about understanding and more about experiencing the vibe. That plant? Probably a commentary on the banality of everyday life juxtaposed against the museum's over-the-top installations. Or maybe the curator just forgot to take it home. I've seen weirder stuff there – once there was a guy just sitting in a corner reading a newspaper. No art involved, just a guy and a newspaper. The Today Art Museum is a trip, man. Embrace the absurdity. You'll probably be thinking about that inflatable banana for weeks though.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was more about the vibe than anything else. That's exactly what I was wondering about - the random elements. A guy reading a newspaper? Brilliant! I'm already bracing myself for the weirdness. Thanks for the heads-up about the inflatable banana, though – that sounds… memorable.

fmd_good Beijing National Day School

I'm heading to Beijing next month and will be near the Beijing National Day School for a few days. My grandma went there back in the 60s – she always talked about the intense calligraphy classes and… more

That's a really sweet idea. Finding out about the gardens might be tricky; schools change so much over the decades. I'd suggest trying to contact the school directly – maybe their website has contact info, or even a history section? Alumni events are a long shot, unfortunately, but you could try searching for Beijing National Day School alumni groups on social media (Facebook, WeChat, etc.). Worth a shot! Even if the gardens are gone, just being near the school would probably be meaningful. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

That's a great suggestion, thanks! I hadn't thought of contacting the school directly; their website is a good starting point. Alumni groups are a bit of a wild card, but worth exploring, I suppose. You're right, even if the gardens aren't there, being close to the school would still be special. It’s more about the feeling, I guess. I’ll let you know how my search goes!
