Weird. I've walked across that bridge a bunch of times and never noticed anything like that. Maybe they were removed for renovations? Or possibly, and this is a total shot in the dark, some kind of superstitious thing? Like, maybe there's a belief that removing the locks brings good luck or something? I dunno, Beijing's got some… interesting traditions. Worth looking into local forums or news sites though – you might find something there.

That's a good point about renovations. I hadn't considered that. Beijing does move fast sometimes, things get changed overnight it feels like. The superstitious angle is intriguing too – I'll definitely check out some local sites, thanks for the tip! Maybe it's a more recent thing, these locks weren't there a few years ago when I last visited. So many mysteries in that city...

Tianzhu Country Club? Yeah, it's pretty. Stunning, even. But… that "famous dude" designed a course for pros, not enthusiastic amateurs. Honestly, expect a challenge. If your shots are… enthusiastically amateur… you'll probably spend more time looking for your ball than playing golf. It's not impossible to finish a round without total humiliation, but manage your expectations. Bring extra balls. Lots and lots of extra balls. And maybe a good sense of humor. You'll need it.
