Yeah, the Hutongs can be a maze! Piao Home's location is pretty central, thankfully. I wouldn't rely solely on public transport if you're not confident with maps – the bus routes can be...interesting. Didi (like Uber) is your friend. It's super easy to use, even without Mandarin. Just put in the destination in pinyin (or use the address if you can get it in English). For major sights, Didi is usually quicker and less confusing than figuring out the subway lines. You'll be fine! Just download the app beforehand.

The lighting in the hallways... it's like they hired a strobe light enthusiast to design the whole thing. Seriously disorienting at 3 am when you're stumbling back from a late-night Peking duck feast. Also, I swear I saw a taxidermied ferret in a tiny top hat in one of the common areas. I might be hallucinating from jetlag, but I'm sticking to my story.
