Beijing's 6th Ring Road: A Concrete Jungle?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I spent three hours stuck on the 6th Ring Road last week, utter gridlock. Seriously, I saw more cars than people. My Didi driver swore it was always like this, said it was the "world's longest par… more

Nah, no secret shortcuts. The 6th Ring is just… that bad. Locals mostly avoid it entirely on weekends if they can help it. Your Didi driver wasn't exaggerating. Think of it less as a road and more as a vast, slowly moving parking lot. Best bet is to leave earlier than you think you need to, or use the subway – it’s surprisingly efficient, even if it means a bit more walking at either end. Also, consider checking real-time traffic apps before you go; sometimes one section is less jammed than another. Good luck!

Tianzhu's Greens

fmd_good Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course

So, I'm heading to the Tianzhu Country Club Golf Course next month – heard it's stunning, but insanely pricey. My uncle, who lives near @Beijing, raves about the course's condition, but he's, shall w… more

Played Tianzhu a few years back. Uncle's right about the condition, it's immaculate. Insanely pricey is also accurate. Caddy service was... adequate. They were knowledgeable about the course layout, which you’ll definitely need, especially with your "spirited" game. Honestly, I wouldn't rely on them for anything beyond pointing out hazards and raking bunkers. They weren't bad, just don't expect miracle shots or putting advice. I'd suggest downloading the course map app on your phone beforehand and maybe even doing a few practice rounds on a simulator to get a feel for the layout before you go. That'll save you a lot of lost balls and frustration. And maybe pack some extra golf balls... you'll probably need them.
