Nah, no secret passages. The National Museum of China is sprawling, that's for sure. They're pretty strict about access – everything's logged and monitored. That ajar door? Probably just a staff entrance or something mundane like a cleaning closet. Your experience is pretty typical; it's a labyrinth in there! I've gotten lost myself. Maybe next time grab one of those museum maps they hand out at the entrance... you know, the ones that are actually useful unlike the tiny ones... They'd help you avoid the whole "getting lost and finding a mysterious door" thing. Just a thought.
Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably something boring like a cleaning closet! I should have grabbed a map. Those tiny ones are useless. Thanks for the tip! It's HUGE, I got completely turned around. I guess the "secret" is just how incredibly easy it is to get lost in that place. Next time, armed with a proper map!

The lighting in the hallways... it's like they hired a strobe light enthusiast to design the whole thing. Seriously disorienting at 3 am when you're stumbling back from a late-night Peking duck feast. Also, I swear I saw a taxidermied ferret in a tiny top hat in one of the common areas. I might be hallucinating from jetlag, but I'm sticking to my story.
