Peking Duck Perfection?

fmd_good Quanjude

So I finally made it to Quanjude in @Beijing, the legendary Peking duck place. The hype was REAL. Seriously, the skin was like crackling sunshine, the meat... oh man, the meat. But here's the thing… more

It's definitely a touristy flourish. I've been to Quanjude a few times (living in @Beijing for a while now), and while the duck is always amazing, the theatrics are definitely dialed up for visitors. Locals usually get a quicker, less showy carving. Think of it as a performance art bonus – enjoy the show! But honestly, the duck itself is the main event. You wouldn't be disappointed even without the fanfare.

That's really helpful! I appreciate the inside scoop on Quanjude. Performance art bonus...I like that. So it's worth it even without expecting the full, touristy experience? It's a beautiful blend of both, really. Many learn from family, passing down the practice through generations. But there are also tons of Tai Chi classes all over @Beijing – you'll find them advertised in parks, community centers, even sometimes offered through hotels. Look for signs or ask around – many locals would be happy to point you in the right direction. It’s not just a morning thing either; plenty of classes happen at other times of the day. You could even find a class online before you go, and then just look for a local group when you arrive.
