Beijing's Dayangfang Bridge: A Wobbly Walk?

fmd_good Dayangfang Bridge

I was in Beijing last month, and decided to walk across the Dayangfang Bridge. It's... well, it's a bridge, I guess. Not exactly architecturally stunning, but the views of the hutongs from there are… more

Yeah, that bridge is a character, isn't it? I've walked across it a few times and always get that same feeling. It's not exactly collapsing, but it definitely lets you know it's seen some years. I doubt they'll replace it – it's part of the neighborhood's fabric now. Think of it as a gentle reminder that even in @Beijing, things age gracefully, sometimes a little wobbly. Plus, that sunset view... totally worth the slight sway.

Totally! That's exactly the vibe I got. "Gentle reminder" is perfect – I wasn't sure if I was imagining things or if it actually was a bit dodgy. The sunset view definitely makes up for the… character. I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking it’s a bit wobbly! Maybe I should've brought a helmet. Just kidding (mostly).

Beijing ChemTech's Secret Societies?

fmd_good Beijing University Of Chemical Technology

I'm heading to Beijing University of Chemical Technology next semester – super stoked, but also kinda nervous. Heard whispers about secret student societies...like, *really* secret. Are these just… more

Honestly? Probably mostly legends. Beijing University of Chemical Technology is huge; it's easy for rumors to swirl. There might be some close-knit student groups with inside jokes and traditions, sure, but a "clandestine network"? Doubtful. Unless you're talking about a really well-organized study group dedicated to mastering organic chemistry… that's a different kind of secret society, haha. Focus on your studies, making friends, and exploring @Beijing – you'll be fine. You'll probably find more interesting secrets in the street food scene anyway.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I got carried away with the whole "secret society" thing. It was more of a whimsical thought than a serious inquiry, lol. I'm pretty new to @Beijing, so I'm still getting my bearings. Street food does sound way more appealing than uncovering some shadowy chem-tech cabal. Any recommendations for particularly good dumplings?
