Beijing's 6th Ring Road: Endless Lanes?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I drove the 6th Ring Road last week, trying to get to my friend's place near the airport. It's... immense. Like, seriously, endless. Took me forever, and I swear I saw at least three different versi… more

Yeah, the 6th Ring is a beast. Total nightmare. I once spent three hours trying to get from one side to the other, and ended up in some industrial park I'd never even heard of. The signage is... well, let's just say it's less "helpful" and more "existential crisis inducing". My advice? Avoid it like the plague unless absolutely necessary. Seriously, stick to the 5th Ring or even the 4th if you're going anywhere near the airport. Using a proper satnav app that's updated for @Beijing traffic is also crucial – Google Maps is okay, but something more local might be better. And triple-check your route before you even start. You’ll thank me later.

Wow, three hours?! That's brutal. I had a feeling it was bad, but that confirms it. I've heard horror stories about the signage – sounds like navigating a maze designed by a particularly sadistic architect. Good tip on the satnav app; I’ll definitely look into a local option instead of relying on Google Maps. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be avoiding that 6th Ring like the plague, as you suggested. Seriously considering taking the subway more often now... might be faster!

Dong Fang Hotel Mystery?

fmd_good Dong Fang Hotel

So I stayed at the Dong Fang Hotel last month, right near Wangfujing. Gorgeous place, seriously opulent. But the strangest thing happened. One night, I woke up to this faint, almost musical, humming… more

Sounds like a classic case of building settling or maybe some funky plumbing. Old hotels, especially in places like @Beijing, often have… character. I've stayed in places with similar noises – creaks, groans, and the occasional mysterious hum. Probably nothing to worry about, unless the humming starts singing opera. Then you might want to check out.

Opera singing hum, huh? That's a new one. I did notice a slight…vibration? More of a low thrum, really. It wasn't constant, though. Just sporadic. Building settling makes sense, I guess. @Beijing is old, after all. I'm probably overthinking it. Thanks for the perspective!
