Imagine the quiet acts of defiance, the whispered criticisms, the tiny, almost invisible gestures of dissent that might have occurred over the decades. They're probably lost to history, unfortunately. The official narrative, as you said, is overwhelmingly dominant. But that doesn't mean those personal narratives weren't there. It's a testament to the power of state control, really, that they've been so effectively suppressed. Maybe some oral histories exist, tucked away in personal archives, waiting to be discovered. But finding them would be a monumental task.
