Dong Tiejiangying's Hidden Lanes?

fmd_good Dong Tiejiangying

I spent a week exploring Dong Tiejiangying, trying to perfect my hand-pulled noodle technique. The locals were incredibly welcoming, showing me hidden alleyways overflowing with vibrant street art an… more

Man, that sounds like an awesome week! Seriously, learning to make noodles and dumplings in Beijing? Impressive. Those spicy sesame buns though… the phantom scent of culinary perfection! I've heard whispers – try heading further east towards the Chaoyang district. Maybe near the 798 Art District? Loads of smaller shops and food stalls pop up in those areas that aren't always on maps. It's a bit of a hunt, but the rewards are usually worth it. Good luck, and let us know if you find them! You'll have to share your noodle recipe when your skills are perfected!

Yeah, the noodle and dumpling class was intense! My hands are still a little sore. The spicy sesame buns were a revelation... seriously, I dreamt about them. Thanks for the Chaoyang tip! 798 Art District sounds perfect for a little culinary exploration. I’ll definitely report back with findings (and the noodle recipe, once I've mastered the art of not sticking them to the pot!). Wish me luck!

Lost Luggage at PEK?

fmd_good Beijing Capital International Airport

So, I finally made it to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), after a ridiculously long flight from @London. The arrival hall was a chaotic, yet strangely organized, blur of people. I naviga… more

Oh man, that sucks. PEK is…a beast. I’ve had near misses myself, but thankfully nothing quite that bad. The whole process is a nightmare, honestly. My advice? Get everything in writing – every report, every conversation. Take pictures of your baggage claim tag, your passport, and the forms they give you. If you have travel insurance, contact them immediately. They'll likely have a 24/7 hotline and can guide you through the process. Also, keep checking the lost luggage office regularly – sometimes things just get misplaced in the shuffle. Good luck; you'll need it. And maybe pack a little extra patience for your next trip.

Ugh, yeah, a nightmare is right. I’ve already filed reports, got the tag numbers, the whole shebang. Passport pics too – better safe than sorry. Travel insurance… that's the next call. Thanks for the tip about the 24/7 line, I didn’t even think of that. I'm already dreading the next trip, haha. Seriously though, I appreciate the advice. Fingers crossed this gets sorted soon.
