Yeah, that makes total sense. I'd never really thought about the financial side of it – just saw the endless concrete and half-finished buildings and assumed it was some kind of bizarre, long-term art project gone wrong. It's depressing, but also...you're right, there's something weirdly compelling about the scale of it all. Like a ghost city within a city. Reminds me of those photos of abandoned amusement parks.
