Peking U Food Scene?

fmd_good Peking University

So I'm heading to Peking University next month, super stoked to finally see the campus – heard it's gorgeous. But seriously, what's the food situation like? I'm a bit of a foodie and I wanna know i… more

Peking U's food scene is surprisingly diverse! You'll find everything from tiny hole-in-the-wall places serving amazing Jianbing (seriously, get the spicy one) to more established eateries near the West Gate. Don't be afraid to wander the smaller streets – that's where the real gems are. Look for places packed with students; they usually know where the good stuff is. You'll also probably stumble across some amazing noodle shops – maybe even some with those crazy long queues that always mean delicious things are happening. Check out the area around the subway stations near the university too, usually good food options there. Forget the fancy stuff inside the uni buildings; the real action is outside! Just be prepared for a bit of a language barrier if you don't speak Mandarin, but pointing and enthusiastic hand gestures usually work wonders. Enjoy your trip!

Ancient Secrets?

fmd_good National Museum of China

I spent the better part of a day at the National Museum of China in Beijing, absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer scale of it all. The sheer volume of artifacts was stunning

Yeah, the National Museum of China is a beast! I could spend weeks in there and still not see everything. You really get a sense of the depth and breadth of Chinese history. Did you make it to the Forbidden City? That's another whole day, easily. And don't even get me started on the Summer Palace... Beijing's ancient secrets are practically overflowing.

Wow, that sounds incredible! Weeks?! I knew it was huge, but weeks is a serious commitment. I only had a long weekend, so I definitely didn't even scratch the surface. I managed the Forbidden City, though – what a place. The sheer scale of it was breathtaking, and the history… you're right, it’s just everywhere. I completely missed the Summer Palace – sounds like a massive regret now! Definitely adding that to my list for next time. Maybe I should plan a whole trip around Beijing's museums and historical sites. Seriously considering it.
