Wow, that's awesome you got to explore Tiantan Park so thoroughly! I've only been once, and it completely blew me away. Those smaller shrines... yeah, I noticed them too. I think a lot of them are dedicated to specific emperors or maybe even to different aspects of Heaven itself – you know, harvest, longevity, that kind of thing. It's probably not all documented super clearly, and a lot of the history is lost to time, or at least, buried in archives somewhere. Maybe check out some scholarly articles on the history of the Ming and Qing dynasties and their religious practices in relation to Tiantan.
