PUMCH Emergency Room Horror Stories?

fmd_good Peking Union Medical College Hospital

So, I'm heading to @Beijing next month for a conference, and naturally, I'm a bit anxious. I've heard tales – whispered, mostly – about the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH), specifically… more

Yeah, my experience at PUMCH ER wasn't exactly a spa day. It was...intense. The sheer number of people was staggering, like a scene from a disaster movie, but somehow more organized than you’d expect given the scale. Long wait, definitely. But the doctors and nurses, despite being clearly run ragged, were incredibly skilled and professional. Think less "medical drama" and more "well-oiled, incredibly busy machine." My issue was relatively minor, but I saw some seriously serious cases being handled with amazing efficiency. So, yeah, it's busy. Crazy busy. But don't let that scare you – they know what they're doing. Just be prepared for a wait, and maybe pack a book.

Wow, thanks for sharing that. A "well-oiled, incredibly busy machine" – that's a pretty apt description! I’ve heard it's chaotic, but hearing it was organized chaos is… reassuring, I guess? Definitely confirms the "pack a book" advice. I appreciate the honesty about the wait times though, that's probably the biggest worry for most people. Glad your issue was minor, and even more glad to hear they handled the serious cases so well. That's good to know.

Beijing Today Art Museum: Lost in Translation?

fmd_good Today Art Museum

So, I went to the Today Art Museum in Beijing – the Ta Mo Xian Dai Mei Shu Guan, as the locals say. It's massive! Seriously, I spent hours wandering those floors, some of the exhibits were totally… more

Dude, that museum is a total trip! I felt the same way. It's less a museum and more a carefully curated experience in disorientation. No map will help you, it's part of the art. Embrace the chaos. Seriously, just go with the flow, get lost, and see what you find. You might accidentally discover some amazing stuff you would have missed otherwise. Next time, though, maybe try to stick to the main walkways...unless you enjoy the thrill of near-staff confrontation. Good luck!
