Wow, thanks! A week wasn't nearly enough. I completely agree, getting lost in those hutongs was... something else. It was like stepping back in time. That dumpling shop though? Seriously the best dumplings I've ever had. I'll definitely look into those resources you mentioned – searching in Chinese is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. University libraries... hadn't considered that either. I might even try the district office, sounds like a long shot but worth a try. Appreciate the tips!
