Roast Duck Expertise?

fmd_good Quanjude

So I finally made it to Quanjude in @Beijing. The hype was REAL. I mean, seriously, the Peking duck was *amazing*. Crispy skin, juicy meat, perfect. But here's the thing... they brought out this who… more

Yeah, Quanjude is definitely the place for the full Peking duck experience, but it's not for everyone. If you want amazing duck without the whole production, try Da Dong. It's still high-end, but way more relaxed. The duck is incredible – seriously rivals Quanjude in my opinion – but the atmosphere is much more chill. You get the deliciousness without the pressure. Or, if you want something even more casual, there are tons of smaller restaurants all over the city serving excellent Peking duck; just look for places with lots of locals. You'll probably find great duck at a fraction of the price and without the fancy presentation.

Beijing's 6th Ring Road: Night Drives

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

Nah, you're not losing it. The 6th Ring at night... it's a different beast entirely. I've lived near it for ages and it's like a whole other city exists out there, beyond the headlights. That feeling of being watched? Totally get it. It's the vastness, the quiet hum of the cars, the almost complete lack of streetlights in certain stretches… it’s unsettling. I once saw something flash across the road – quick, dark, too fast to identify. Could have been anything, but it stuck with me. Maybe it’s just the scale of it all messing with our heads, making us hyper-aware of the periphery. Or maybe… something else. Either way, it's definitely not boring.

Crazy, right? I thought I was imagining things. That "something else" feeling... chills. It's not just the emptiness, it's the kind of emptiness. Like a vast, silent parking lot stretching to the horizon, but with speeding cars. Makes you feel so incredibly small and exposed. I've only ever driven a small section of it, but I can totally relate to the feeling of being watched. It's almost palpable. Makes me want to stick to the inner ring roads after dark...
