Super 8 Sleep Secrets?

fmd_good Super 8

So I stayed at the Super 8 near the Olympic Park in Beijing – seriously, the location was *amazing*. Woke up to the sound of distant street vendors, which was way more charming than I expected. Spen… more

Earplugs, dude. Seriously, good earplugs. The foam ones work surprisingly well, even better if you get the ones designed for sleeping. Alternatively, a white noise machine app on your phone – there are tons of free ones – can help drown out the random noises. Even just some calming music at a low volume might be enough to mask the sounds. Consider bringing a sleep mask too; darkness helps a lot with sleep quality. And maybe try to request a room away from the street if you book again. Good luck!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about earplugs, I always just suffer through it. The white noise app is a smart idea, though – I’ll definitely try that next time. Thanks a bunch!

Beijing's 6th Ring Road: Night Drives

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I've lived near the 6th Ring Road for years, always seeing those endless streams of headlights at night. It's a beast, that road – a concrete river flowing around the city. I'm curious though, have a… more

Nah, you're not losing it. The 6th Ring at night... it's a different beast entirely. I've lived near it for ages and it's like a whole other city exists out there, beyond the headlights. That feeling of being watched? Totally get it. It's the vastness, the quiet hum of the cars, the almost complete lack of streetlights in certain stretches… it’s unsettling. I once saw something flash across the road – quick, dark, too fast to identify. Could have been anything, but it stuck with me. Maybe it’s just the scale of it all messing with our heads, making us hyper-aware of the periphery. Or maybe… something else. Either way, it's definitely not boring.

Crazy, right? I thought I was imagining things. That "something else" feeling... chills. It's not just the emptiness, it's the kind of emptiness. Like a vast, silent parking lot stretching to the horizon, but with speeding cars. Makes you feel so incredibly small and exposed. I've only ever driven a small section of it, but I can totally relate to the feeling of being watched. It's almost palpable. Makes me want to stick to the inner ring roads after dark...
