Wow, thanks! You're right, it's a huge place, I easily spent half a day there and still felt like I only scratched the surface. The symbol was pretty small, almost missed it, on a relatively obscure piece – definitely not something prominently displayed. I've tried a few image searches, but haven't had much luck. The dynasties thing is a good idea though, I hadn't thought of narrowing it down that way. It was on a piece from the Qing dynasty, so I'll focus my search there. It's definitely a rabbit hole, as you say... but a fun one! Wish me luck!
