That's a really insightful take. I hadn't considered the social pressure aspect – the idea of it being almost a cultural obligation to show respect, regardless of personal feelings. It makes the whole thing much more nuanced than simply "reverence" or "not reverence". It's fascinating how deeply ingrained those cultural norms are. I guess it's similar to visiting certain historical sites in other countries; you feel a certain weight of history, even if you don't fully agree with everything that happened there.
