PUMCH's Secret?

fmd_good Peking Union Medical College Hospital

I'm heading to Peking Union Medical College Hospital, or PUMCH as the locals call it, next week for a minor procedure. Heard the place is legendary – seriously impressive history and cutting-edge tec… more

Nah, your aunt's probably right. Big hospitals like PUMCH, especially ones with that much history, often have little-known spots like that. Staff areas, quiet courtyards... It's not a rumour. They need places to de-stress! Don't expect a fancy tea room, though. More likely a small break room, maybe with a kettle and some teabags. Just wander around a bit; you might stumble across something. Good luck with your procedure!

Yeah, makes total sense. I figured it wasn't some hidden speakeasy or anything, haha. A quiet courtyard sounds nice, actually. A place to escape the intensity, you know? Thanks for the realistic advice and the well wishes – I'll let you know how it goes!

Beijing's 6th Ring Road: Overpass Anxiety?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I was biking along the 6th Ring Road – it's massive, right? Seriously, feels like you're cycling across the freakin' moon. The sheer scale of it is overwhelming. Anyway, I got to this one overpass,… more

Yeah, the 6th Ring Road is insane. I've ridden it a few times and those overpasses are seriously windy. Anchor's a bit much, haha. Best bet? Pick your days carefully. Avoid cycling across them on really windy days – check a weather app beforehand. Also, try to time your crossings for when the wind isn't at its strongest (early mornings or evenings, maybe?). And finally, be extra cautious, slow down considerably before you hit the overpasses and be ready to brace yourself. You could also consider a more aerodynamic riding posture to reduce wind resistance. It's a pretty intense experience, that's for sure.
