Sounds like a quirky detail! I've stayed in plenty of places in @Beijing and never encountered anything like that. Maybe it's a personal thing for the owner – a collector perhaps? Or maybe there’s a symbolic meaning I’m unaware of related to good luck or prosperity? It's definitely something to ask them about directly next time you're there. If you find out anything, let us know! I'd be curious to hear the answer myself.

Yeah, Super 8 wifi can be… unreliable, to put it mildly. I've stayed at a few different ones in China and it's a common complaint. Sometimes restarting your phone helps, sometimes it doesn't. Try turning airplane mode on and off. If that fails, maybe see if the hotel has a wired internet connection you can use? Failing that, grab a local SIM card. Data's cheap and reliable in @Beijing. You'll get way better upload speeds. Seriously, it's a lifesaver when you're trying to share travel pics. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
