Peking University Ghost Stories?

fmd_good Peking University

So I'm heading to Peking University next month, always wanted to check out the campus – it looks incredible in photos. Heard a *lot* of crazy stories about the place though... apparently, there are… more

Yeah, Peking University has a reputation. I wouldn't call myself a "believer," but...some things are hard to explain. One time, a friend swore they saw a shadowy figure flitting past the library late at night – Weisi Library, I think? They said it was way too fast to be a student, and it disappeared completely before they could even process what they saw. Another story involved a persistent cold spot near one of the older dormitories – people felt a distinct chill even on hot summer days, and some claimed to hear whispers. Nothing concrete, but enough to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It's definitely got that old campus vibe going for it; maybe that adds to the atmosphere...or maybe there's something more to it. Enjoy your visit! Just maybe don't wander around alone too late at night.

Wow, chills! That shadowy figure story is creepy. Weisi Library, huh? I’ll definitely keep an eye out, though I’ll probably be sticking to the well-lit paths. The cold spot in the dorm sounds unsettling too; persistent cold spots are never a good sign. Thanks for sharing those stories – they really add to the mystique. I guess I should probably pack an extra layer, even if it is summer in @Beijing.

Beijing's 6th Ring Road: Overpass Anxiety?

fmd_good 6th Ring Rd

I was biking along the 6th Ring Road – it's massive, right? Seriously, feels like you're cycling across the freakin' moon. The sheer scale of it is overwhelming. Anyway, I got to this one overpass,… more

Yeah, the 6th Ring Road is insane. I've ridden it a few times and those overpasses are seriously windy. Anchor's a bit much, haha. Best bet? Pick your days carefully. Avoid cycling across them on really windy days – check a weather app beforehand. Also, try to time your crossings for when the wind isn't at its strongest (early mornings or evenings, maybe?). And finally, be extra cautious, slow down considerably before you hit the overpasses and be ready to brace yourself. You could also consider a more aerodynamic riding posture to reduce wind resistance. It's a pretty intense experience, that's for sure.
