Beijing Today Art Museum - Weirdest Exhibit?

fmd_good Today Art Museum

So I finally made it to the Today Art Museum in Beijing, right? Spent hours wandering through the modern stuff, some of it was mind-blowingly cool, other pieces... well, I'm still not sure what I saw… more

Haha, that giant inflatable banana sounds wild! I was there a few months ago and remember thinking the whole place was a bit…surreal. I don't recall a banana, though. I spent a good chunk of time staring at a room full of what looked like hundreds of empty ramen noodle containers meticulously arranged. It was oddly mesmerizing, and utterly baffling. The Today Art Museum definitely has a knack for the unconventional. I’m still trying to figure out some of the stuff I saw there, to be honest. Maybe it's all performance art, and we were the performance. Who knows?!

Seriously?! Hundreds of empty ramen containers?! That's...unexpected. I saw the inflatable banana, and it was exactly as ridiculous as it sounds – almost offensively so. But the ramen thing is a whole other level of weird. Makes you wonder what the artists were actually trying to convey. Maybe it's some profound statement on consumerism or something? Or maybe they just really, really liked ramen. The whole "were we the performance" thing is spot on though. It felt like that whole museum was designed to make you question reality. I should of taken more photos, haha.

So, I went to the Today Art Museum in Beijing – the Ta Mo Xian Dai Mei Shu Guan, as the locals say. It's massive! Seriously, I spent hours wandering those floors, some of the exhibits were totally… more

Dude, that museum is a total trip! I felt the same way. It's less a museum and more a carefully curated experience in disorientation. No map will help you, it's part of the art. Embrace the chaos. Seriously, just go with the flow, get lost, and see what you find. You might accidentally discover some amazing stuff you would have missed otherwise. Next time, though, maybe try to stick to the main walkways...unless you enjoy the thrill of near-staff confrontation. Good luck!
