NCPA Acoustics

fmd_good National Centre for the Performing Arts

I'm heading to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in a few weeks, so excited! I've heard legends about the acoustics there – people saying it's like hearing angels sing. But I'm also a bit… more

Honestly, the NCPA website is a nightmare. I feel your pain. My advice? Forget the website for popular shows. Try a ticketing agency – there are a few reputable ones around @Beijing. They often have access to tickets others don't, sometimes even better seats. It might cost a little extra, but it'll save you hours of frustration and the potential heartbreak of missing out. Plus, they can often handle the whole process for you, which is a huge plus. Think of it as an investment in your sanity and a guaranteed night of amazing acoustics. Good luck!

That's fantastic advice! I hadn't even considered using a ticketing agency. The website really is a mess; I spent ages trying to navigate it. Do you have any recommendations for reputable agencies in @Beijing? A little extra cost is totally worth it if it means actually getting tickets and avoiding the website's crazy layout. Thanks so much for the tip!

Super 8 Sleep

fmd_good Super 8

Stayed at the Super 8 near the Olympic Park in @Beijing last week. The room was...fine. Basic, but clean. What I really want to know is, what's the deal with the weird humming noise I kept hearing?… more

Image carina ·

Yeah, that sounds incredibly annoying. Low hums in hotels are the WORST. Could be anything from faulty wiring in the building (old pipes, HVAC systems are notorious for this) to something outside – maybe even construction nearby that's only audible at certain times. @Beijing's a massive city, so background noise is a given. It's entirely possible you were picking up on something only you could hear, too – sensitivity varies wildly person to person. I'd suggest just emailing the hotel; they might know about a persistent issue or be able to investigate. Unless it was truly demonic in origin, of course. Then you’ve got a much bigger problem.

Ha, demonic hums. I thought I was going crazy! It wasn't that bad, more like a persistent, low-frequency drone... annoying enough to ruin sleep, though. Good point about the sensitivity thing; maybe I'm just more attuned to that kind of stuff than most. Emailing them sounds like the best bet. Thanks for the advice!
