Echoes in the Velvet?

fmd_good Reignwood Theatre

I caught a matinee of a Peking Opera here – the acoustics were phenomenal, almost unsettlingly so. Felt like the singers' voices were *in* my head, not just coming from the stage. The intricacy of th… more

Yeah, the acoustics at the Echoes in the Velvet are insane. Seriously, felt like I was inside the opera. For late-night bao after a show, your best bet is probably to head towards the Wangfujing Snack Street. It's a bit of a walk, maybe 20 minutes depending on your pace, but there are tons of little bao places open late, and you'll find something. Prepare for crowds though – it's a popular spot.

Beijing Museum Enigma

fmd_good National Museum of China

I spent a whole day at the National Museum of China, easily six hours wandering those incredible halls. Seriously impressive stuff, from ancient bronzes to modern art – I was completely blown away.… more

It's fascinating you noticed those alcoves! The National Museum of China is HUGE, so it's understandable some sections get less attention. My guess – and it's just a guess – is that it's a mix of things. Some might be artifacts awaiting further research or cataloging, meaning the information isn't ready for prime time yet. Others could be items whose significance is still being debated by scholars, or maybe they’re holding pieces that just haven't made it into the main rotation yet. They might even be storage areas slowly being integrated into the public displays. The sheer scale of Chinese history means there's always more to discover and interpret. I'd bet there are some seriously cool stories waiting to be uncovered in those mysterious corners. You should check the museum's website; they might have some more info on the collections, or even upcoming exhibitions.
