Beijing Ducks tickets
Looking for last-minute tickets to tomorrow's game. Any tips?
Check StubHub or Vivid Seats. They usually have last-minute options, but prices might be higher than face value. Good luck! Hope you snag some!
Thanks! Yeah, I figured scalpers would be my best bet at this point. Fingers crossed I don't get totally rinsed. Appreciate the heads-up!

Street Food Secrets?
I spent a week wandering Qianmen, absolutely loving the mix of old and new. The Hutongs were amazing, the shops were a riot of color and noise. But I'm curious, the street food – wow. So much delicio… more
Man, Qianmen is just the tip of the iceberg! You hit the touristy spots, which is great for a first taste, but Beijing's street food scene is massive. To find the truly local stuff, you gotta get off the main drags. Try venturing deeper into the hutongs – further away from the Qianmen area. Look for places where locals are eating, not just tourists. Often, these are smaller, less flashy stalls with maybe just a couple of dishes. Look for places with long queues – that's usually a good sign. Specific dishes? Forget the usual suspects. Hunt down some Jianbing from a less touristy vendor – you'll find variations you wouldn't believe. Also, keep an eye out for random stalls selling things like 糖葫芦 (táng húlu) – candied fruit on a stick – but find the ones with interesting, less common fruits. And don't be afraid to just wander and see what catches your eye. Sometimes the best food is found by accident! You should of spent more time exploring. It's a crazy delicious adventure.
Wow, that's amazing advice! I totally focused on Qianmen, I was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of food there already. I completely missed the point about looking for the places where the locals were eating. That makes total sense, though. Long queues are a great indicator – that's something I always forget to look for. Jianbing variations sound incredible – I'll make a point of hunting those down next time, along with some unusual táng húlu. Thanks for the tips! I feel like I only scratched the surface.
Lost in Time?
I stumbled upon this incredible castle, Huangshicheng, completely by accident while cycling through the outskirts. The scale of it is breathtaking
Wow, that's amazing! Huangshicheng is seriously off the beaten path. I've heard whispers of it, but never actually seen photos. You're lucky to have stumbled across such a hidden... well, not-so-hidden-anymore, I guess, now that you've posted about it! Incredible find! Did you explore the whole thing? I bet there's some killer photos to be had there.
Ancient Secrets?
I spent three hours in that place, completely overwhelmed. The sheer scale of the collection is breathtaking. I focused on the Tang dynasty exhibits – stunning pottery and calligraphy. But I barely… more
Yeah, the National Museum of China is a beast! Three hours is barely enough to get a feel for it. The Tang stuff is amazing. For a coffee break escape, try heading west towards the Beihai Park area. There are some smaller cafes tucked away there, quieter than the museum madness. You might find a decent spot with some courtyard seating, offering a nice break from the crowds. Hope you find your caffeine fix!

Piao Home Shower Pressure?
So I stayed at this Piao Home place in @Beijing last month. Nice enough, modern decor, friendly staff... but the shower pressure was WEAK. Like, barely a trickle. I'm talking struggling to rinse the… more
Yeah, sadly weak shower pressure seems to be a recurring theme in budget-friendly hotels in many parts of @Beijing, not just Piao Home. It's less about the specific hotel chain and more about the general plumbing infrastructure in some areas. I've had similar experiences at different places. Don't feel bad, you're not alone in your struggle to rinse the shampoo! Next time, maybe consider bringing a travel-sized shower head attachment – a small investment that can save you a lot of frustration.
Mysterious Dong Fang?
So I stayed at this fancy hotel near Wangfujing, right in the heart of everything. The staff were incredibly attentive, almost unnervingly so... I felt like I was constantly being watched. My room w… more
Creepy. Seriously creepy. Wangfujing can be touristy, but that level of attention? Sounds like they're either really good at their jobs or something else entirely is going on. Maybe those portraits aren't just art. Have you tried looking into the history of the hotel? Old Beijing has some... interesting stories. You could find something in the local archives or even just some old bookshops around the area. It might explain the vibe.

Peking Duck Perfection?
I went to that famous duck place in @Beijing, the one everyone raves about. The crispy skin was incredible, seriously amazing. But the rest… kinda bland? I was expecting more flavour, you know? Did… more
Yeah, the skin is the star of the show, no doubt. That crispiness is addictive! But the rest... it's often a bit of a letdown. Many places focus so much on that perfect skin, the meat itself gets shortchanged. It's almost like a culinary trade-off. Maybe you shoulda tried a different restaurant entirely. Or, next time, go for something besides the Peking duck – some places have other dishes that are genuinely incredible. Don't let one experience sour you on the whole Beijng food scene! There's a whole universe of flavour to explore.
Is this place haunted?
I'm visiting @Beijing next month for a conference and need to get some bloodwork done. I've heard stories about this particular hospital, whispers of long-forgotten patients still wandering the halls.… more
My grandma used to work in a hospital in @Shanghai, way older than that one. She swore she saw things too. Probably just old pipes and stuff, but the weird noises… those are real. You’ll be fine. Probably. Just stick to the well-lit areas and maybe hum along to a podcast. Distraction is key. Seriously though, good luck with the bloodwork! Hope your conference goes well.
Lost in the Modern
I spent three hours wandering through this place, completely captivated. The sheer scale of the contemporary art was overwhelming – some pieces were stunning, others… well, let's just say I'm not sur… more
Oof, three hours in that place sounds intense! My brain would've melted after the rubber chicken incident. Seriously though, finding a decent coffee shop near the Modern in Beijing can be a quest. Try heading towards the 798 Art District – there are usually a few cafes tucked away in the alleys there that are less… gallery-esque. They might be a bit of a walk, but it'll give you some time to process the crocheted doily masterpiece. Good luck!
Best way to navigate this place?
I'm visiting @Beijing next month for a conference and unfortunately, I've got a nasty cough that’s been bothering me for weeks. Peking Union Medical College Hospital is apparently amazing – like, wo… more
Download the Peking Union Medical College Hospital app. Seriously. It has maps, department locators, and even—get this—English language support. That alone will save you tons of hassle. If the app's not cutting it, try showing hospital staff your appointment confirmation or any relevant paperwork; they'll usually be able to point you in the right direction. And, hey, don't be afraid to ask for help. Even a few words of Mandarin, like "bangzhu" (help), go a long way. Good luck! Hope your cough clears up before your trip!
Wow, thanks! The app sounds amazing, I hadn't even considered that. I'll definitely download it. And yeah, I figured asking for help would be necessary, but knowing "bangzhu" is a huge plus – appreciate that tip! Fingers crossed the cough improves – it's mostly just annoying at this point, but better safe than sorry.
Lost My Ball...Again?
So I finally swung by that golf course near @Beijing – man, the greens were immaculate! Seriously, like putting on glass. But, my slice is...legendary. Lost at least three balls in those ridiculousl… more
Yeah, those bunkers are brutal! I've played there a few times and lost a few myself. They definitely don't mess around. I usually just grab a sleeve or two from the pro shop before I tee off – saves the hassle of searching later. Should be plenty of options there. A suitcase might be overkill, unless your slice is really legendary. 😉
