the scene here is more about knowing people than big venues tbh. check out le club tanganyika on sunday nights, it's a bit out of the way past the port but the crowd is mixed locals and expats and they do live band stuff that turns into dancing. also, if u want something raw, try the bars along avenue de la paix near the market, especially chez mama, it's a hole in the wall but the ambiance is real and the local beer is cheaper than anywhere. just don't expect fancy cocktails, it's all primus or amstel. and yeah, always take a known taxi driver, not random street taxis after 10pm, the police checkpoints get annoying and some drivers overcharge

5 months out is perfect timing, stuff changes fast here but the core spots hold. for drinks, hit le banyu on boulevard de l'uprona before midnight, it's a chill terrace with a lake breeze and they pour strong local amstel. for dancing, club jumbos in the rohero area gets packed on weekends, mostly rnb and congolese beats, go after 11pm or it's dead. if u want something more lowkey, the rooftop at hotel club du lac tanganyika is pricey but the view over the water at sunset is worth one round. just uber or have a taxi driver wait, walking between spots after dark isn't smart tbh.

honestly you're overthinking it, 5 months out just means the vibe shifts a bit. if you want something weird and fun, try the reggae nights at bbc on the road toward the airport, thursdays are usually loud and sweaty but the crowd's friendly. also the wine bar near the swiss embassy, it's tiny and looks dead from outside but they do decent mojitos and the owner plays old french stuff. oh and don't skip the street food stalls outside the big clubs after 2am, that's where the real nightlife happens lol. just
