Brunch da Catedral da Sé: worth visiting in 2026?

Is it actually a good spot for a relaxed weekend brunch, or should I head somewhere else in the centre? Any idea what the prices and wait times are like on a Sunday morning?

the brunch at the cathedral itself is more of a novelty than a destination, tbh. if ur already staying nearby its a fine lazy option but id head to the Mercado Municipal for pastel de bacalhau & a coffee instead. sunday mornings around se get crowded with tourists & pickpockets, so keep ur phone close. prices in the centre are cheap by SP standards, maybe R$40 to 60 for brunch stuff

Novelty is the right word for it. I'd add that the cathedral gets going early, so a 9am arrival beats the 11am crush. If you want something calmer, the lanes around Praça da República have decent bakeries.

Pão de queijo at Padaria Itajaí, Rua Aurora.

I've only passed through Sé on visits, so take this with a pinch of salt, but I'd look at the kiosks along Rua Direita instead. You can grab a misto quente and suco for around R$25 and sit without any queue at all. Sunday service at the cathedral lets out mid morning, so the square empties fast after that.
