R$75 is on the higher side for that area honestly. Sé is pretty touristy so a lot of places charge a premium just for the location. You can prob find decent brunch for R$40-50 a few blocks toward Liberdade or down toward República. If teh place has good reviews though it might be worth it, just check if it includes coffee and juice or if those are extra

yeah and check if it's a weekend price, lots of places near Sé bump it sat and sun. weekdays you can sometimes get the same plate for R$50. also watch for the couvert, that's what gets ya

worth adding that a lot of those spots close by 3 or 4 on sundays so dont bank on a late one. and check if its cash or card only, some smaller places around there are pix or dinheiro.

Second this, and confirm the pix thing before you sit down.

Also if they only take pix, set it up before u go, some foreign cards dont link to it easily.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

good call on checking whats included, id also look at whether its a buffet or plated. buffet spots around there can be better value since you eat as much as u want & coffee is usually in the price

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The Liberdade end of Rua Galvão Bueno has Japanese bakeries doing set breakfasts well under that, coffee included.

Fair point on the extras, and I'd also check whether a serviço charge is tacked on at the end. Some spots around Sé add 10 percent automatically, which pushes that R$75 closer to R$83.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

agreed on the location premium, but id also check if the place takes reserva, weekend brunch spots near sé fill up fast

tbh the area right around the cathedral is mostly offices and banks so sit-down brunch is thin on the ground there. if its a spot in the middle of that it might be aimed at tourists passing through. check the google reviews for brazilian names, thats usually teh tell

Is the CSa bar tab scam real in Sao Paulo 2026?

Is this a known scam in Sao Paulo or was I just unlucky? Curious how the trick usually works before I go back in 2026.
