Day trips from Khulna next month?

Heading to Khulna next month and have a few free days for day trips. Any recs for places to visit nearby that are doable in a day? Preferably something unique like Sundarbans or a historical site. bagherhat is your best bet for a historical day trip, it's about an hour by bus and the sixty dome mosque is genuinely impressive. the whole unesco site is pretty compact so you can see it all in a few hours. if you're into something more laid back, take a rickshaw to the leather market near the river, it's chaotic but interesting and you'll see how local life works. sundarbans is technically doable in a day from khulna but you'll be rushing, tbh i'd save that for a longer trip if you can.

if you're into something really offbeat, take a bus to jessore and see the mazar of hazrat khan jahan ali, it's about 90 mins from khulna and the whole complex has these old tanks and mosques that feel totally different from the sixty dome vibe. grab some chui jhal at a roadside stall near there, it's a local spice mix that'll wake u up. also worth checking out the satgachia banyan tree near rupsha, it's this massive old tree locals swear has spirits, peaceful spot for an afternoon

sundarbans is doable if you leave early, like 6am from khulna launch terminal, you can catch a boat to karambol or kachikhali and be back by evening. the real trick is skipping the official tour packages, just negotiate with a local boatman near the jetty, costs way less and you get a more authentic ride through the smaller canals. bagherhat is solid too but everyone goes there, if you want something different check out the chandramahal zamindar bari in magura, about 2 hours by bus, it's this crumbling old palace with a weird mix of colonial and bengali architecture, hardly any tourists around
