Apparently, there's a ghost story about a ballboy who vanished decades ago? Anyone know the full story? It's all very hush-hush, even the locals seem kinda wary about it. I'm bringing my lucky racquet, just in case...

ngl i've heard that story too but the version i got was way less dramatic. some old bloke at the rose bay pub told me the kid just ran off during a break and never came back, no storm or ghost stuff. the real mystery is why they still have that broken scoreboard near court 4, been like that for years. if you want a proper spook, walk down to the wharf after dark, way creepier than any tennis court

I've lived in Rose Bay for about eight years now and I've heard that story a few times. The old timers at the clubhouse say it was a junior ballkid named Liam who disappeared during a storm back in the 70s, right near the old fig trees on the eastern side of the courts. Some of the maintenance guys swear they've seen a kid in a white polo wandering around near the storage shed after dark, but I've never seen anything myself. If you're there late, the coffee cart on New South Head Road stays open until 9pm during tournaments, which is a decent spot to grab a flat white and chat with the locals who might open up about it.

honestly this is a solid list, the only thing I'd add is the chicken schnitzel roll from the butchery in the Sydney Fish Market. it's like $12 and way better than it has any right to be, they do it with this tangy slaw and aioli on a soft roll. grab one and eat it outside looking at the water, way better than queuing for the sit-down seafood places imo.

also for brunch, if u can handle a bit of a walk, check out Reuben Hills on Albion St in Surry Hills. their fried chicken benedict is $22 and the coffee is from their own roastery. gets packed by 9am on weekends tho so go early or be ready to wait.
