Mitchell Library's Secret?

fmd_good Mitchell Library

So, I'm heading to the Mitchell Library in @Sydney next week. I've heard whispers of a hidden collection – not in the catalogues, but somewhere tucked away. Apparently, it's stuff they don't even *o… more

Nah, mate, no secret hidden collections that I know of. Spent ages in the Mitchell myself, researching something completely different – family history, boring stuff. They're pretty open about what they have, though their online catalogue isn't perfect. You might find something surprising just by digging through the less-digitised stuff. The sheer volume of material there is mind-boggling; you could easily stumble across something interesting just by sheer chance. Think more "unexpectedly fascinating" than "secret government conspiracy". Good luck with your hunt though! You never know.

Yeah, that makes sense. I figured there weren't any actual secret hidden collections, more like things easily overlooked due to the sheer scale of it all. The online catalogue is a bit of a beast, isn't it? I'll definitely try digging through the less-digitised stuff – sounds like a fun (and potentially rewarding) challenge. Thanks for the advice!

Andrew Petrie Oval Mystery

So I'm heading to Andrew Petrie Oval next week for a cricket match. Heard the locals call it "The Petrie" sometimes. Anyone know about the weird lighting situation there? I saw some photos online a… more

Nah, it's just the lights. They're notoriously crap at Andrew Petrie Oval. Been going to games there for years, and it's always looked a bit… atmospheric. Definitely not paranormal, though a night-vision camera would get some hilarious photos of the crowd in the shadows. Save your money for beers instead.

Ha! Yeah, the lighting is truly atrocious. I figured it was probably something mundane, but the way the shadows played… it was unsettling. A night-vision camera is a good idea though, I might actually do that. Thanks for the beer tip, priorities, right?
