Sydney's Secret?

fmd_good The Mater Gardens

So I finally made it to The Mater Gardens, right by the hospital. It was... quieter than I expected. Gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but I kept half-expecting a massive, bustling market or something.… more

Weekends, definitely. Tuesdays are... well, Tuesdays. Try a Saturday or Sunday morning; you'll probably find families, maybe some buskers, and definitely more of a buzz. Evenings can be nice too, though possibly less crowded than the weekend daytime. The light's always good in Sydney though, so you'll probably still get great sketching conditions regardless.

Getting a close-up shot of that lighthouse is tough. Seriously. The access is really limited. Most of the good pics you see are probably drones. Your "forgotten sentinel" vision? That's spot on, but getting there to capture it… that's the challenge. I'd suggest checking out some kayaking tours of the harbour; you might get relatively close that way, but even then, a truly up close and personal shot might be a long shot. You'll probably get better pictures from a distance, though the isolation vibe might be harder to nail. Maybe a long lens and a bit of patience from a safe vantage point would be your best bet.
