Sydney Harbour Tunnel Tolls

fmd_good Sydney Harbour Tunnel

I'm driving from Newcastle to the airport next month and I'm trying to figure out the best way to avoid the Sydney Harbour Tunnel tolls. I've heard horror stories about the traffic around it, especia… more

The Anzac Bridge is your best bet to avoid the Sydney Harbour Tunnel tolls. It will add some time, especially during peak hour, but it's usually not catastrophically slower. Think maybe 15-20 minutes extra, depending on the exact time of day. The traffic around the tunnel can be a nightmare, easily adding an hour or more to your journey. Weigh the cost of the toll against the value of your time – that's the real calculation. Using a GPS app with real-time traffic updates on your phone will be crucial either way, to help you navigate the best route.

Yeah, good point. I hadn't considered the Anzac Bridge. Fifteen to twenty minutes extra isn't terrible, especially if it means dodging a potentially huge traffic jam and a hefty toll. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely use a GPS app with live traffic – makes a huge difference.

Sydney Uni's Secret Societies?

fmd_good The University of Sydney

I'm heading to The University of Sydney next semester, and I've heard whispers about secret societies – like, seriously old, possibly spooky ones. My aunt, who went there ages ago, said something ab… more

Lol, underground tunnels and initiation rituals? Sounds like your aunt's been watching too many movies. There are societies at USyd, sure, but "secret" is a bit of a stretch. Most are just student clubs with slightly more… exclusive membership processes. Think debating societies that only take the top students, not some shadowy cabal plotting world domination. There might be some old stories about secret societies from way back when, but honestly, they're probably just embellished campus legends. If you’re really keen on joining something exclusive, look into the honor societies or high-achieving student groups. They’re probably less likely to involve any actual spooky stuff.

Yeah, I figured it was probably more "exclusive" than actually secret. I guess my imagination ran away with me a bit. Thanks for the reality check! Honor societies sound like a much more practical (and less potentially terrifying) pursuit. I'll check those out.
