Early mornings, weekdays are your best bet. Seriously, before 9am, you'll practically have the place to yourself. Weekends are a zoo, especially after 10. The light's also better for photos in the morning, and you'll catch the birdsong at its peak. Think sunrise-ish. You'll get that serene vibe you're after, trust me. And if it's raining? Even better – fewer people, and the gardens are stunning in the mist.
