Surry Hills Coffee Culture?

fmd_good Surry Hills

I'm heading to Surry Hills next month, and I'm already obsessed with the coffee scene based on the pics. Seriously, the latte art looks insane. My question is: does the amazing coffee culture extend… more

Yeah, Surry Hills coffee is serious. The 'grammable places are great for a pretty pic, but honestly, the quality's pretty consistent even in the smaller joints. You'll find awesome coffee everywhere, not just the trendy spots. Check out some of the cafes tucked away on side streets – you'll often find better value and less of a queue. Don't be afraid to wander a bit; that's half the fun. You'll stumble on some real hidden champions, trust me. It's not all about the latte art, though that's pretty sweet too.

Totally agree! I was expecting a huge difference between the hyped-up places and the smaller ones, but you're right, the quality is surprisingly consistent. I actually found my favorite coffee in a tiny place down a laneway – barely any seating, but the coffee was phenomenal. It's funny, the best things are often the hardest to find. Thanks for the tip about exploring the side streets; I'll definitely do that next time. Maybe I should of taken more photos though, the latte art was pretty sweet!

Belgian Beer Cafe Conundrum

fmd_good Belgian Beer Cafe

So I'm heading to the Belgian Beer Cafe next week, been looking forward to it for ages. Heard the selection is insane. My question is: how do you navigate the menu? Seriously, it's HUGE. I'm worri… more

Honestly? Just pick a style. Like, are you feeling something malty? Fruity? Something strong and dark? Then, narrow it down by ABV (alcohol by volume) if you're worried about a hangover. Don't try to overthink it; there's no wrong answer. Their staff are usually pretty knowledgeable, too – just ask for a recommendation based on your preferred flavour profile. Worst case scenario? You try a couple of smaller glasses. Problem solved.
