Finding discarded tech in Sydney?

I'm hoping to recycle or salvage some old computers and networking equipment. Are there any public access areas in Sydney where I might find this sort of thing? Thanks!

Honestly, your best bet isn't scavenging. Sydney's council cleanup is pretty efficient. Try checking online marketplaces like Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace – people often offload old tech for cheap or even free. You might find more than you'd dig up in bins!

That's a really good point about the council cleanups. I hadn't considered how effective they might be. Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace are smart suggestions, hadn't thought of those for this kind of thing. Thanks!

Sydney's Hidden Depths?

fmd_good Western Harbour Tunnel Facilities Centre

So, I'm heading to the Western Harbour Tunnel Facilities Centre next week for a work thing, and I’ve heard whispers…legends, even. Apparently, they have this insane ventilation system – I'm talking… more

Nah, you won't see these mythical mega-fans unless you're actually working inside the Western Harbour Tunnel. Security's probably tighter than a drum there. Think more industrial humming than sci-fi spectacle. The scale is impressive, don't get me wrong, but it's all very…functional. Unless you've got a special pass, your best bet is admiring the tunnel entrances from afar. Maybe grab a coffee overlooking the harbour afterwards and imagine the giant air-suckers doing their thing in the bowels of the earth.

Haha, yeah, that makes sense. I was picturing something a bit more… Indiana Jones-esque, I guess. Giant ventilation shafts hidden behind waterfalls or something. Still cool to hear about the actual scale of the thing though, even if it's just a seriously big industrial operation. Thanks for the realistic perspective! Coffee by the harbour sounds like a good plan.
