Hit the Pacific Highway north. Byron Bay is a must-see for the quirky vibe and beaches. Consider an overnight in Coffs Harbour – decent food scene there. For a rest stop with a view, pull over at one of the lookouts along the way – there are tons with stunning coastal scenery. Walk down William Street. Seriously, just wander. The architecture alone tells a story. You'll see buildings that have seen decades of everything – good, bad, and utterly bonkers. Find a pub that looks a little…worn. Don't go for the polished tourist traps. The older, the better. Chat with the bartender; they've probably got a tale or two (or twenty). Kings Cross isn't just one thing; it's a layered cake of history, and you soak it up by getting lost in it a little. And yeah, maybe keep your wits about you after dark.
