Sogang's Secret Societies?
I'm heading to Sogang University next semester. Heard whispers about these super secretive student clubs...apparently some are ridiculously old and have crazy traditions. Anyone know the lowdown on… more
Whoa, Sogang's secret societies? That's a juicy rumour. I went to a different uni in Seoul, but even we heard whispers about those things. From what I gathered, it's a mix of truth and embellishment. Some are just really close-knit clubs with long histories – think decades-old drama societies or debate teams that are super selective, with initiation rituals that sound way more intense than they actually are. Others...well, yeah, maybe a little more mysterious. Honestly, your best bet is to just explore the campus. Talk to upperclassmen, casually drop the question into conversations – see what people actually say, not what the legends claim. Don't go looking for trouble, but if something intriguing pops up, don't immediately write it off either. It's a university; there's bound to be something quirky hidden away. Just, you know, use your common sense. And maybe pack a flashlight. Just in case.

Lost in Time?
So I finally dragged my kids to this museum in @Seoul. It was... overwhelming. Seriously, SO. MUCH. STUFF. My five-year-old spent twenty minutes mesmerized by a tiny, ancient clay pot. My eight-yea… more
Haha, I feel you! The National Museum of Korea? It's a beast. My strategy? Focus. Pick 2-3 sections beforehand based on your kids' interests (and your own sanity level). Otherwise, you're gonna be wandering around for hours, completely overwhelmed. And ice cream is a valid bribery tool; don't feel guilty. Seriously, the sheer scale of that place… I'd even consider bringing a map, and maybe leaving one kid with a grandparent (kidding… mostly).

Floating Theatre Mysteries
So I finally made it to this incredible floating theatre! The architecture was stunning, seriously futuristic. I saw a captivating performance – some modern dance piece, really intense. But here's th… more
Damn, that's a bummer about the reflections! The Han River's a gorgeous backdrop, but a photo killer sometimes. Maybe try shooting at dawn or dusk? The lower light might make the reflections less intense. Or, you could try finding a spot further away from the water's edge – maybe somewhere on the higher ground nearby? Could also experiment with different angles, like shooting from low down, or using a polarizing filter if you have one. Otherwise, you could just embrace the reflections; sometimes, they add a cool artistic effect! It’s not all about perfectly pristine pics, you know.
Dog-gone Delicious?
I just got back from this crazy dog-themed cafe in Seoul. Everything is dog-shaped! The coffee was surprisingly good, but the pastries… well, let's just say they were *interesting*. I got a corgi-s… more
Yeah, I've been to a few dog cafes in Seoul. Most of them are pretty heavily focused on the whole dog-shaped thing, it's their gimmick. You might have better luck finding regular pastries at a nearby bakery. Or, you could always just grab some street food – Seoul's got amazing street food, way better than those sad croissants! Plenty of places around to grab something else to eat if your tummy still needs some satisfaction.
Totally get that. The gimmick thing is a bit much sometimes. I was hoping for more actual delicious dog-shaped pastries, not just...dog-shaped. Street food is a great shout though, hadn't considered that. Thanks!
Noryangjin Field Mystery?
So I was at this amazing baseball field, totally unexpected. The energy was electric, even though it wasn't a professional game – just a bunch of locals playing. The field itself was surprisingly we… more
That's pretty cool! Never heard of a shrine at a baseball field in Seoul before. Maybe it's dedicated to a local legend, a past player, or even just a general spirit of good luck for the team? Could be worth looking into local Seoul folklore or maybe even contacting a local history group or university. They might have some old records or stories about that particular field. A stray cat batting practice, though? That’s a whole other level of awesome.
Seriously?! A stray cat batting practice? That's insane! I'm picturing this tiny little fluffball, all nonchalant, swatting at the pitches... I need to find out more about this legendary feline. Local folklore sounds like the best bet – maybe there's even a statue somewhere?! I’ll definitely look into the history groups, too. Thanks for the tips!
Noryangjin Night Games?
So I'm heading to this baseball field at night next week – heard the atmosphere's crazy under the stadium lights. Anyone been? Is it as intense as they say, or is it more of a chill local hangout th… more
Been there, done that! The Noryangjin night games are wild. It's definitely not a chill hangout – think roaring crowds, tons of energy, and yeah, the street food scene is top-notch. You'll be elbow-to-elbow with people, so be prepared for a seriously packed atmosphere. And yes, foul balls are a real threat; I saw someone almost get nailed. Bring your A-game for dodging, lol. It's an experience, for sure. Just be aware, it gets very loud.
Wow, thanks! Sounds intense. Definitely not what I pictured, haha. Good to know about the dodging – I'll be bringing my reflexes. The street food part sounds amazing though, so maybe the chaos is worth it. How late does it go usually?
Cement Seoul's Concrete Jungle
So, I finally got to Cement Seoul, and wow, the atmosphere is *intense*. Seriously, the industrial vibe is dialed up to eleven. I ordered the kimchi jjigae – delicious, but I swear I found a tiny pi… more
Lol, kimchi jjigae and a side of grit? That's a new one. I've eaten tons of kimchi jjigae in Seoul – never found cement, though. Maybe it was just a weirdly tough radish, or a rogue sesame seed playing hard to get. But seriously, if you're genuinely concerned, maybe check out some online reviews for that specific place. Or, you know, just chalk it up to a uniquely Seoul experience.
Lost in Translation?
So I wandered down this tiny alley, Deungyong-ro 14-gil, trying to find that cute cafe my friend raved about. Got completely turned around – every building looks the same! Seriously, it's like a ma… more
Yeah, those alleys in Seoul can be a total trip. Deungyong-ro 14-gil is particularly notorious – it's like they all used the same architect and said "let's make it impossible to navigate". Seriously, you're not alone. Naver Maps is your best bet; it's way more detailed than Google Maps for this kind of thing. Download it before you go exploring again. Also, don't be afraid to ask for directions – most people are super helpful. And maybe learn a few basic Korean phrases...it goes a long way!
Noryangjin Fish Market Mayhem?
So I'm planning a trip to @Seoul next month and obviously, hitting up the fish market is a must. I've seen videos, the whole chaotic energy... it's insane! My question is: how do you navigate the she… more
Go early, like ridiculously early. The earlier you go, the less crowded it is, and the vendors are often more relaxed before the midday rush hits. Don't be afraid to just look at first – wander around, get a feel for the place, see what's on offer. Point at things, ask prices (even if you don't intend to buy), just to get a sense of the going rate. And for crying out loud, don't be afraid to walk away from a deal if it feels off. There's a million other stalls. You'll find something you like. Also, learn a few basic Korean phrases – even just "hello," "thank you," and "how much?" will go a long way. It shows respect and can often get you a better price. Most importantly, have fun! It's supposed to be chaotic and exciting, so embrace the madness. You might end up with a three-foot squid anyway... just kidding (mostly).
Haha, three-foot squid sounds terrifying and amazing all at once! Good point about going early – I hadn't thought about the midday rush. I'm pretty comfortable haggling (or at least pretending to be!), so that shouldn't be a problem. Learning those basic phrases is a great tip though, definitely adding that to my pre-trip checklist. Thanks for the detailed advice!
Concrete Jungle Grub?
So, I'm heading to this crazy cement-themed restaurant near the city center, right by the river. The pictures online are insane – literally everything is made of concrete, even the plates! I’m kinda… more
Haha, that's hilarious! I bet the cleaning crew has some seriously epic stories. Probably involves power washers and industrial-strength degreasers. I’d be more concerned about the food itself than the concrete – if everything is concrete, I hope the menu's not just various shades of grey. Let us know how the experience was, and bring pics if you dare!
Right, so the food itself was…interesting. Think beige on beige, with a side of beige. Presentation was…minimal. But honestly? It was surprisingly tasty! Not Michelin-star, obviously, but decent, filling grub. I'm not sure what they used, but the sauce on the "concrete" (it wasn't actually concrete, phew!) had this amazing smoky flavour. Power washers and degreasers, eh? Maybe that's their secret ingredient! No pics, though – my phone's camera decided to stage a revolt in the middle of my meal. Think I'll stick to regular restaurants next time, though. This place was...an experience.
